If you get a blackjack, you will automatically win the bet if the croupier's first card cannot possibly be a blackjack as well. If a blackjack is still possible, then you don't win the bet until the croupier's hand is fully determined.
On the other hand, if your count exceeds 21 after the third card is dealt, you automatically lose your bet, an instance that is known in blackjack games as a bust. The croupier is as vulnerable as any player to a bust. If the croupier gets a bust, all the bets win. If the croupier does not bust, the total card values of all the three hands are compared to the croupier’s. If the total card count of your hand is nearer to 21 than the croupier’s hand, then you win. Naturally, if the croupier’s hand is nearer to 21 than yours, you lose the game. In case of a tie, the game becomes void and the croupier will just announce the next round.
